The Greatest Marvel Animated Shows of All Time, Ranked
There are tons of Marvel animated shows to choose from. but these animated wonders are the best of the best. We could watch them again and again.
MODOK
No one ever thought this show, doomed for trouble from the start, could be such a hit. MODOK remains one of the greatest animation marvels made for television. Hulu was doing a ton of Marvel-themed shows when Marvel disconnected them because of Disney+. MODOK only had one season with 10 episodes. Patton Oswald’s sharp humor paired with the series’ epic characters make this a must watch.
Ultimate Spider-Man
Disney XD came up with the idea for Ultimate Spider-Man way back in 2012 and started streaming episodes the same year. Despite the name “Ultimate” in the title, this Spider-Man is not from the Ultimates universe. Although Nick Fury’s version is from that universe itself. Ultimate Spider-Man saw a fairly experienced Peter Parker become the leader of a superhero team with White Tiger, Nova, Iron Fist, and Power Man. The show used multi-episode story arcs and connected to elements and plots from previous seasons to create a better overall plot. And that’s why it remains one of the best Marvel animated shows ever made.
X-Men (1992-1997)
One of the most iconic Marvel animated shows of all time, the original cartoon ran from 1992 to 1997. The show is so popular even after more than two decades that Disney+ decided to revive it. . X-Men ’97 will take the story forward where the series left off. Many iconic characters like Wolverine, Gambit, Rogue, Jean Grey, and Cyclops will return. The character designs will once again be inspired by Jim Lee’s comics. It wasn’t Batman: The Animated Series but X-Men The Animated Series received critical acclaim and plaudits for trying to bring the popular X-Men arcs to small screens.
Spiderman (1994)
There were obviously tons of Marvel animated shows already. This wasn’t Spider-Man’s first small-screen rodeo. But Marvel took a chance and allowed Fox Kids Network to air Spider-Man The Animated Series in 1994. The show gave us a more authentic and grounded view of Peter Parker. As a college student struggling to make ends meet, Peter must still protect the town from all manner of evil. Like X-Men, the series brought classic storylines to screens. But due to its realistic approach to the superhero genre, it remains a cut above the X-Men animated series.
X-Men: Evolution
After three years of the last installment of the original X-Men series, another mutant-themed show has launched. The X-Men Marvel animated shows were where the money and X-Men: Evolution hit the jackpot. Released three years later, Evolution gave us an updated character roster, a lot more villains, better graphic designs, and more story arcs. The characters were made into teenagers instead of adults like in the 1992 series. Despite a rocky start, X-Men: Evolution ended up being a smash hit. The teenage high school element helped the show connect with a younger demographic of viewers, due to its success.
The Spectacular Spider-Man (2008-2009)
In 2008, another animated Spider-Man show was launched. Unlike other Marvel animated shows, The Spectacular Spider-Man was unique in many ways. For starters, it was one of the first Marvel animated shows to adopt Japanese anime like character designs and graphics. Spider-Man lore has been drastically changed for the series, while a few origin stories for some popular Spider-Man villains have also been changed. The show may have only had two seasons. But it’s still considered one of the greatest Marvel animated shows ever made. It is still widely acclaimed even after 14 years since its last episode aired.
