Steph Curry reacts to James Wiseman’s scrum
James Wiseman has worked hard to get back on the pitch. Wiseman’s career start was rocky, as the big man only played 39 career games after being top-2 in the 2020 draft; however, the Warriors still hope he can be a key contributor for years to come. With some positive developments from training and scrums, it looks like the start of that process could be approaching.
After his first 5-on-5 scrimmage, Wiseman told the media that “It went well. I had a few dunks…I’m in the final stages. [of rehab]… So I just have to keep working. Wiseman added that he would likely spend time in the G-League before returning to NBA action. In early February, head coach Steve Kerr said there was a chance Wiseman could be playing at the time. playoffs; however, he said the Warriors weren’t sure what to expect.
Steph Curry also praised Wiseman after that scrum, saying “he looked good. It was weird, it was just like that rusty scrum after All-Star Break where the overall play was pretty sloppy. , but he had a lot of good energy. He had that dunk back in place, just a little bit of impatience to take the next step in his return to the game. He’s a beast when you watch him on the ground. Especially when the rest of our team is quote-unquote undersized, he stands out. He can do amazing things, it’s just a matter of making him comfortable… It was a good step in terms of his return.
