Sports Illustrated 2021 Pac-12 Football Rankings Unveiled

The season is almost here and we just can’t wait for the action to begin. I’ve teamed up with the rest of the Sports Illustrated editors at Pac-12 to bring you our first Pac-12 poll.

You’ll see where each school ranks, along with the number of first-place votes they received and my blurb on the reasoning behind my ranking.

For context, Sports Illustrated has six Pac-12 publishers. Including myself covering Oregon with Ducks Digest, there are team sites for Arizona State, Cal, UCLA, USC, and Washington.

You see some similarities between our ranking and that of the Top 25 AP, but also a deviation that is sure to spark some fun discussions.

Max Torres Pac-12 Ranking

1. Oregon

2. USC

3. Washington

4. State of Arizona

5. Utah

6. UCLA

7. Spread

8. Stanford

9. Colorado

10. State of Oregon

11. Washington State

12. Arizona

The first and last three of those rankings probably won’t come as much of a surprise as Oregon’s efforts on the scouting trail are really starting to pay off as they refine the product on the pitch. The No. 10 spot is interesting with Oregon State as the Beavers beat Oregon last season and brought some really talented transfers.

I think UCLA is probably the team I could see going into the top quarter of the standings, and I gave Utah the lead because Whittingham is a solid coach who has made the most of his roster. every year. The Bruins only went 3-4 last season, but they’ve lost a lot of close games and have a strong Dorian Thompson-Robinson quarterback coming back to lead the way.
