University of Louisville head coach Scott Satterfield has beefed up his recruiting room staff. John Herron was named scouting coordinator and Clay Colvin was promoted to scouting coordinator for Creative Media for the Cardinals.

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to bolster our recruiting efforts,” Satterfield said in a prepared statement. “John has done some great things in Florida and has ACC experience in the State of Florida. John is very organized, knowledgeable and an exceptional person. We are thrilled to welcome John to our Louisville team. Clay made a great job since joining our team last season and has taken on a lot of slack as we continue to meet the needs of our scouting department.”

More from the official school version:

Herron joins the Louisville staff from Florida, where he served in the recruiting department for the past seven years. Most recently, Herron served as assistant director of player personnel and director of recruiting for the past four seasons before working as director of campus recruiting from 2016-2018.

While on staff for the Gators, Herron hosted recruiting events for prospective student-athletes and worked closely with the social media team to improve social media reach.

During his time at UF, Herron was instrumental in adding important recruits to the roster. In his first season on the staff, Herron helped inking the No. 9 ranked recruiting class in the nation, which catapulted the Gators to three New Year’s Six Bowl appearances. Herron also participated in the signing NFL draft picks: CJ Henderson, Marco Wilson, TJ Slaton, Shaw Davis, KT Toney, James Houston and Zach Carter.

While with the Gators, he was able to secure the signings of five-star prospects: Jason Marshall, Corey Collier, Lorenzo Lingard and Justin Shorter.

Prior to serving in Florida, Herron served as Florida State’s Director of Recruiting and High School Relations from 2018-2019, where he helped anchor the nation’s No. 19 recruiting class.

Colvin joined the University of Louisville athletics department as a graphic designer in May 2021 before being promoted to recruiting coordinator in April.

Last season, Colvin served as the department’s lead graphic designer, doing all social media graphics for the football program.

Prior to Louisville, Colvin spent a year as the creative football coordinator for Eastern Michigan University. In this role, he was responsible for creating and distributing graphics and other multimedia content to inform and engage fans and potential recruits on various social media platforms. Colvin began his career at the Division I level with a graphic design internship at West Point with the Army Football Program.

The Springfield, Ohio native played offensive line for Findlay University, where he earned a degree in digital marketing and a minor in graphic design in 2019.
