Located at Valencian Institute of Modern Art (IVAM), a new exhibition features posters and flyers from Valencia’s once-bustling club scene The Bakalao Road.
With 86 flyers and 130 posters from the 80s and 90s, “Ruta Gráfica: Designs For The Sound Of Valencia” runs until June 12, 2022. Featuring works by cartoonists and graphic designers, the exhibition is part of of the World Design Capital Valencia 2022 initiative.
“The goal is to provide a unifying narrative about the evolution of graphic design that has developed around the stage, one of its lesser-known aspects,” a statement on the website read. the IVAM. “The starting point for the guided tour of the exhibition is Valencia’s long tradition in comics and illustration, linked to the arrival of modernity in music and aesthetics in the 80s, and ending in the digital technologies that defined the final stages of the phenomenon.”
“The exhibitions are complemented by numerous interviews with the various agents involved in the design process – designers, artists, printers and cultural managers – as well as a selection of classic posters and merchandising of the time”, they have added with regard to other activities throughout the exposure period.
