OPPO ‘Find N’ foldable to make an impact if the price is right in India
New Delhi: Foldable smartphones are rapidly gaining popularity around the world, including in India, and keeping in mind the trend set by Samsung, Chinese brand OPPO has launched its first foldable smartphone called “Find N”.
The brand has yet to reveal its availability and pricing in India, a country that is expected to experience a massive 638% sales increase in India in 2021 and is expected to hit a record 3 lakh unit sales in 2022 (according to data provided by market research firm Techarc).
We’ve been using OPPO’s device for about a week and here’s what we think about the latest flagship.
OPPO ‘Find N’ uses a 3D curved design on the two outer edges of the device to improve hand feel and maintain a sleek look. The rear cover and rear camera module continue the fluid curve design language of the Find X3.
The smartphone includes a side fingerprint scanner housed in the power button, as well as a dual speaker system and Dolby Atmos support to deliver more realistic sound.
The smartphone comes with an immersive 7.1 inch indoor display and a 5.49 inch outdoor display which provides a full smartphone experience. With an 8.4: 9 aspect ratio, the indoor display unfolds directly into landscape mode so users can watch videos, play games, or read books without the added step of rotating the screen. device.
When folded, the 18: 9 aspect ratio gives users a full and familiar smartphone experience with an easy-to-use one-handed display.
Find N’s 7.1-inch internal display provides 60% larger visual area than a standard 6.5-inch display, creating a more immersive experience and more possibilities for software innovations in use cases such as multitasking and productivity.
The display is the handset’s primary USP. It is bright enough to be used both outdoors and indoors. The smartphone is for those who like to watch videos on larger devices but don’t want to take tablets with them.
During the review, we used the smartphone to stream YouTube videos, especially while traveling on the subway, and we believe this is a whim.
The OPPO ‘Find N’ comes with a triple camera setup for high quality photos and videos. It includes a 50 MP Sony IMX 766 main sensor, 16 MP ultra-wide lens and 13 MP telephoto lens, as well as selfie sensors on both indoor and outdoor displays.
We found the camera’s performance to be impressive in various lights. The low light performance was good and was able to produce bright images using a dedicated night mode.
A new split-camera user interface allows the immersive large indoor display to be used to efficiently take photos on one side, then view, share, or delete the most recent photo on the other side.
The OPPO Find N comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 mobile platform, along with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Performance looks decent on paper, but sorry we couldn’t use the phone for multitasking as the Review Unit comes without a Play Store or any services that Indian users use.
A 4,500mAh battery delivers a day’s runtime, while the 33W SUPERVOOC flash charge is optimized to charge 55% in 30 minutes and 100% in 70 minutes, the company claims. It also comes with 15W AIRVOOC wireless charging (compatible with standard Qi) and 10W reverse wireless charging.
Conclusion: the smartphone has already created a lot of buzz in the Chinese market, should wear the same once launched in the country in 2022.
The handset comes with an amazing design language, powerful cameras, and decent overall performance. This will certainly pose a challenge to the Galaxy Fold, and price will be a key factor.
