No more problems with Google Maps in Android Auto, this time with closing the app

Google Maps is the world’s most popular mobile navigation app, and millions of people use it every day, not only on smartphones, but also on Android Auto and CarPlay. On Android Auto, you can use Google Maps. Android Auto is a system that allows you to drive your car Automated user interface Auto-interface for Android Auto-interface for Android Android Auto has a user interface. In principle, Google Maps and Android Auto are a perfect combination, but as some users have discovered the hard way, that’s not always the case. The most recent issue with the navigation software on Android Auto is how Google Maps turns off when the phone is unplugged from the car’s main unit.
So basically Google Maps has to be closed manually even when the app hasn’t been launched on Android Auto, and for a lot of people that is as confusing as it can be. While some location services can indeed be used while using Android Auto (for various other features), Google Maps should still close automatically. And some users of the linked reddit thread claim that this behavior was introduced a few months ago after a recent update. As of yet, Google has yet to recognize this problem or at least explain why Google Maps shows up in the notification center when navigation is not in use, so it goes without saying that you shouldn’t remember your breath for a solution.
In theory, Google Maps should automatically stop browsing and close its services after running Android Auto, but for some reason this no longer happens for some users. I noticed similar behavior in my car as well, although for some reason this issue went away automatically a few updates ago. And while it’s not yet clear whether Google has at least tried to implement a fix, users here on reddit claim that they need to manually close Google Maps on their mobile devices after shutting down Android Auto. In other words, Google Maps doesn’t do everything automatically anymore, although it obviously should, and some users claim that the navigation shows up in the notification center even if they haven’t launched it.
