Lionel Messi launches NFT art collection called “Messiverse”
Professional footballer Lionel Messi has joined the non-fungible token (NFT) bandwagon with the launch of ‘Messiverse’, which features a collection of cryptographic artwork designed by Australian digital designer BossLogic.
Messiverse is a joint project with Ethernity, a blockchain platform providing access to officially licensed NFTs.
The four pieces represent Messi in an AI-driven bionic form both in the future and in the past.
The first NFT of the set titled The Golden One portrays Messi as the gold standard. The second, known as “Man From Tomorrow” and “Man Of The Past”, features Messi in AI bionic form with his new number 30 and old number 10.
The third NFT dubbed “The King Piece” recalls the time when kings ruled kingdoms and when Messi, according to BossLogic, would have reigned supreme in the sport.
The fourth NFT, whose title has not yet been revealed, pays tribute to Argentina’s victory in the Copa America final against Brazil. It was the country’s first victory and Messi’s first victory in a major international tournament in decades.
Messi will also receive a cryptocurrency fan token payment by Socios.com as part of his recent transfer from FC Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG did not say what percentage of the deal included the tokens received by Messi.
