EdNC is hiring an Audience Growth Producer
EducationNC is a daily source of online, nonprofit, nonpartisan news and analysis on education issues critical to North Carolina residents. Over the past seven years, our work has focused on informing North Carolinians about key trends, issues, and challenges affecting elementary and secondary education in North Carolina.
We are an organization that has grown its audience by 140% over the past two years, and we are now looking to expand our audience team with the addition of an Audience Growth Producer.
The Producer will work closely with the Director of Communications and Director of Content to strategize, create and implement work supporting EdNC’s website, social media and search engine presence, newsletters , etc.
This position is ideal for recent or upcoming graduates eager to learn. We are looking for someone who wants to understand and include the people of North Carolina in a conversation about education. The ideal candidate will be passionate about public engagement, education, and connecting with members of North Carolina’s educational community – from parents to superintendents. We want this person to be a self-starter who can help us distribute and curate content creatively and strategically across all our channels, including developing strategies for channels we don’t currently use. We want this person to really know our community, understand their information needs, and help close our engagement loop.
This is a full-time remote position. Applicants may be based anywhere in North Carolina. Some travel for in-person meetings is planned.
Salary starts at $45,000 but does not include benefits. Vacation and sick days are planned.
A typical day might look like:
- Support EdNC’s engagement team in translating audience goals into action.
- Assistance in the creation and management of content on social networks (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter).
- Contribute to engagement initiatives and projects to optimize EdNC.org, as well as audience-centric research and product improvement across our platforms, news processes and events.
- Evaluate metrics for website and social media.
- Occasionally produce timely and audience-focused content for the website
- And whatever interests you!
We are looking for someone:
- With an autonomous, creative and proactive attitude.
- With strong news judgment and editing skills.
- With excellent verbal and written communication.
- Able to manage projects and work independently.
- Able to work within both breaking news and long term planning deadlines.
- Flexible and able to pivot as needed.
- Collaborative: Work closely with a team of two, then more broadly with a diverse team and the people of North Carolina.
- Familiar with education, politics, journalism, communications or more of these things; we welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds, so no specific experience is required.
Preferred but not required (we can teach you!):
- Graphic design experience.
- Familiarity with Excel and Google Sheets.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Premiere and Photoshop.
- Experience with email analytics as well as other listening and engagement tools like Crowdtangle and Google Analytics.
- Basic understanding of search engine optimization.
- Familiarity with the AP style.
We know there are some great people out there who won’t tick all of those boxes, and we also know that you might bring important skills that we haven’t thought of. If this is your case, do not hesitate to apply and tell us about yourself.
Please send a cover email, three work samples and your resume to [email protected] and [email protected]. In the subject line put “App – Audience Growth Producer”. All documents must be submitted by May 15, 2022.
