Colenso BBDO welcomes new creative talents
Sonya Milford joined Colenso as Senior Digital Designer, with extensive experience in the design and digital industries having worked at Gladeye, TVNZ and TRA.
Head of Digital Production, Tennille Barnes, says: “I am really delighted that Sonya is joining the team, she has a fresh energy and spirit that goes way beyond her job. Help us set a new, higher benchmark in creativity.
Passionate about decolonizing the future of creativity, Milford recently founded Āhua Collective, a creative group designed to empower QTBIPOC and BIPOC artists and create a more accessible industry.
Milford says: “There is great power in sharing and understanding the stories of marginalized creators. To ignore this would be to miss a complete change in creative innovation.
“I’m really excited to bring my passion and perspective to Colenso and the work they do.”
CEO Angela Watson says, “The face of creativity is changing and Sonya is leading the charge. We are really excited to be working alongside him to empower all voices, both in the workplace and in the industry at large. “
Milford’s commitment to craftsmanship has been celebrated both locally and internationally. Most recently, for his contribution to The Virtual Economy which won several awards, including a purple pin at the Best Awards.
His appointment follows a particularly strong year for Colenso’s design department, which won top awards at the Best Awards and at the Kātoitoi Design Archives.
