Chinese news anchor wears the colors of the Ukrainian flag while reporting that NATO is responsible for the Russian invasion
A Chinese news anchor was quick to draw attention to the colors of her recent on-air outfit, which closely resembled those of the Ukrainian flag.
According to Taiwan Newsthe Chinese state-run CCTV4 anchor reported that NATO was responsible for the Russian invasion of Ukraine when she wore the outfit.
Reddit user u/Semetali uploaded a screenshot of the news anchor wearing a bright yellow button down blouse with a bright blue blazer, colors similar to those of the Ukrainian flag.
Many users responded to the post, speculating if the anchor outfit was worn deliberately in support of Ukraine or if the color coordination was just a coincidence. While some claimed the anchor was taking “position” or pointed out that the outfit stood out from the usual “neutral colors” worn by Chinese anchors, others felt it was just a choice. of fashion.
“What is interesting with blue and yellow is that they are complementary [sic] colors, which means they are colors that pop and look better, which is why you usually see them paired in outfits, paints, graphics and just about everywhere,” one user explained . “Maybe she supports Ukraine. Users also claimed that the color hues of the blazer differed between the screenshot and the video where the screenshot appears to show a brighter blue while the video shows a more teal blue.
CCTV4 offers a mix of English and Chinese programming and is part of China Public Television, or CCTV.
China did not condemn Russia for its invasion of Ukraine and instead accused the United States of being at the origin of the conflict.
