‘both sides thinking’ artwork by hymn wong
the anthem wong launches “the thought of both sides”
‘Both Sides Thinking’ is a project of over 300+ illustrations and dozens of animated GIFs that combine philosophy and minimal design to visualize abstract concepts and ideas through black and white visual representations. Created by designer Hymn Wong, the pictographs literally inspire people to look at life “from both sides”.
reconcile the divide through the philosophy of yin and yang
“Both Sides Thinking” responds to social media exacerbating the divide between people with strong opinions. ‘There’s this constant battle between who’s right and who’s not,’ share Wong (see more here). The designer used the classic black and white approach to represent this division. But while these two color “extremes” may appear to be in opposition, they actually function like Yin and Yang; the two sides need each other to form a picture, a complete story.
discover the wong product range
Some of the visuals are turned into decks of cards. One is called “The Relation Game”, where users can explore and discover relationships they may not yet be aware of. The second game, ‘Q42’, covers various life topics. Other products include the ‘Now Clock’, which invites us to return to the present moment, and the ‘Nowhere’ lenticular cards which change direction depending on how users rotate them:’Either you are Nowherewhere you are Nowhere‘, explains Wong.
